Riverside Ravens Girls Soccer Go 11-0!
In just their second year, the Riverside Ravens girls soccer team swept the season with a flawless record, ending with a big win over Dearborn’s Bryant Middle School. The Crestwood School District proudly celebrates our student-athletes, coaches, and families on this incredible run!

Tonight’s Board Brightener was a powerful celebration of student voice, academic excellence, and decades of dedication.
We began by recognizing the Riverside Middle School News Team, led by Mr. Ken Bajorek, for their outstanding work in student-led storytelling and media production.
Next, we honored three Crestwood High School seniors named 2025 Detroit News Outstanding Graduates:
Hashem Saleh – Scholar-athlete, NASA researcher, headed to Dartmouth
Mohammed Ali Al-Sabeh – STEM standout, Coca-Cola Scholar, going to USC
Hala Komaiha – Valedictorian, robotics leader, accepted to five Ivies, attending MIT
We closed the evening by celebrating four incredible retirees who were in attendance:
Kelly Brighton – 23 years at Riverside, beloved teacher, mentor, and drama director
Sophia Liogas-Goffas – 29 years at Highview, champion of growth mindset and student success
Gae Bowersock – 34 years supporting Crestwood schools with grace and heart as a secretary
Diana Johns – 50 years at CHS, a science educator whose legacy is felt across generations
Each of these individuals has left a permanent mark on our students, our schools, and our community.
To our retirees, graduates, and student leaders—thank you. Crestwood is better because of you.

Dearborn Heights K-9 Units Conduct Active Training Exercise Within Crestwood Schools
On Wednesday, Crestwood High School and Riverside Middle School welcomed K-9 units from Dearborn Heights and surrounding communities for a planned training exercise. This collaborative effort allowed K-9 teams and their handlers to engage in purposeful training within real-world school environments—an important part of their ongoing preparation and skill-building.
Participating departments included Brownstown Township, Canton Township, Hamtramck, Livonia, and St. Clair Shores. The presence of these regional partners highlights the strong relationships and shared commitment to student and community safety.
This exercise was coordinated in partnership with law enforcement and was conducted with all necessary precautions in place to ensure student safety and minimal disruption to the school day.
We thank our families, students, and staff for their continued support and cooperation as we work together to maintain a safe and welcoming environment across the Crestwood School District.

The Second Annual District-Wide Art Show was nothing short of incredible this evening. Families, teachers, and student artists filled the halls of Riverside Middle School, shoulder to shoulder, celebrating a stunning showcase of creativity from across the district.
This year was especially memorable with the addition of our youngest artists from Crestwood Early Childhood Center—our preschoolers joined the fun and added a whole new level of joy to the event.
A heartfelt thank you to our phenomenal art educators: Ms. Schoen (Riverside), Ms. Taylor (Highview), Mr. Pierson (Hillcrest), and even while on maternity leave, Ms. Peterson (Kinloch) still made it to support her students.
This event has truly become the crown jewel of the district. We couldn’t be more proud of the talent, heart, and community that shone so brightly tonight.

Michigan’s own master of chills and thrills, Jonathan Rand—author of the Michigan Chillers and American Chillers series—visited Riverside Middle School for an unforgettable talk with our students!
